Situated in the Lenah Valley in Hobart, Immaculate Heart offer classes from Kindergarten to Grade 6 in a caring, friendly, family environment. Its philosophy is built on the belief children should be happy and experience success so as to develop confidence and positive self-esteem. And extensive curriculum helps achieve this, as does Hear and Learn technology.
Principal Nick McGann shared this:
“One of the inspirations for the trial was through my own experience. I was sick and tired of sitting at the back of a meeting or PD and not being able to hear. I believe if this was happening to me, it would happen in a classroom.”
“Teachers felt that at the end of the day their voice was not as worn as previously. They found that the majority of the children were more engaged during lessons as they could hear better, both from the teachers and fellow students.”
“One particular challenge that the technology addressed was the ability to hear all students. The quiet students that find it hard to project their voice, gained more confidence and were happy to participate in group and class discussions.”
“(During an initial trial, teachers) “believed the children more engaged as everyone in the classroom gained access through hearing what the instructions were.”
“We were so impressed with the trial that now all classrooms at IHMCS have “Hear and Learn” technology in it.”
