Hear and Learn worked closely with education construction stakeholders to address the evolution of personal devices worn by the hard of hearing.
As reflected by the May 2022 edition of the Victorian School Building Authority Building Quality Standards Handbook, two Uconnect agnostic and agile on-wall interface units were installed at a Victorian College.
Recognising the fact that different learners can have different receivers in aids, and older visitors may have unique devices, stakeholders endorsed our advice that Assistive hearing technologies are constantly evolving, which means that installed hearing augmentation and sound field solutions must be as agile as possible.
Further support was given to our reporting that hearing augmentation systems that require WiFi primary transmission, induction loops in ceilings or underfloor coverings and infrared systems should not be used.
