Integrating hearing augmentation and microphones in school gyms: Hear and Learn SoundHouse and Access Link simplifies the task

Education policies, such as the Victorian School Building Authority’s Building Quality Standards Handbook and similar Queensland guidelines, prioritise the need for large gathering spaces to support effective voice capture and distribution.

However, many school gymnasiums are fitted with speaker systems designed for music or timers but lack convenient and effective microphone systems.

A recent Hear and Learn project in Vermont, Melbourne, addressed this issue by installing our all-steel SoundHouse in a school gym. This solution ensures that any transmitter can connect with receivers in hearing aids worn by students, teachers, parents, and visitors—both now and in the future. Designed for durability and reliability, this system is crucial for gyms where ball sports and other high-impact activities take place.

Additionally, the SoundHouse was integrated with our Access Link, enabling the Flexmike and Sharemike to capture voices and broadcast them through speakers while simultaneously transmitting to hearing aid receivers.

Hear and Learn partnered with Jack from MJS Electrical, who highlighted the ease of installing UConnect products, making this an efficient and effective solution for schools looking to enhance accessibility in their gym spaces.
